A poet of Deshnok village, Bikaner District, tells about a year with almost famine due to drought in the monsoon season of Vikram Samvat 1984, that is 1927 AD. The folk godess Karni saved them by sending a rain at the end of the season in response to the energetic prayers of her followers. Hence there was a happy end.
